About ABLE Therapy

ABLE Therapy is an occupational therapy, speech pathology, and physiotherapy service offering clinic based children's services and generalist mobile services covering Beenleigh area South to Bribie Island, Caboolture and Wamuran North.

Our OT home visiting service provides support to NDIS clients in their area, Veterans (DVA) including Home Assist, disability services, MASS, CAEATI applications, and occupational therapy reports for care agencies in planning care and manual handling needs of clients and carers. In addition, ABLE has a specialist service that provides treatment for continence, bed wetting with children and lymphoedema.

ABLE partners with many local schools and local childcare centres, providing services such as prep screening and teacher training. Our paediatric team is well supported. Although this position is for generalist disability practice, there is the opportunity to work within the paediatric team if desired.

About the Opportunity

ABLE Therapy has an amazing opportunity for an experienced Occupational Therapist to join our team based in North Lakes, Brisbane.

This is primarily a generalist service providing OT to our disabled clients, seniors and veterans in home to assist them to remain independent in the community. Home Assist minor mods assessments, MASS, CAEATI  and DVA RAP applications, along with welfare monitoring, are some of the duties of this position. Mentoring is available for therapists as requested or required. You must have a drivers license. 

The variety of work offered by ABLE will be very attractive to therapists who are at risk of becoming bored. Most OT positions offer limited practice opportunities. About You

ABLE is seeking applications from candidates with relevant tertiary qualifications in Occupational Therapy who hold, or are currently undergoing the process of obtaining, registration with AHPRA.

For our NDIS generalist service you will need to be a lateral thinker and a problem solver. You will need to be confidently able to look at a complex problem and help your client and family prioritise goals and break them down into achievable 'chunks'. You will need to be confident in your ability to guide and advise your clients and agencies in providing exceptional care. 

You’ll be approachable, welcoming and friendly, with the ability to connect with clients of all ages. If you choose to have a paediatric caseload, as a large portion of your child client base will be comprised of children within the autism spectrum. As such, you will need exceptional communication and interpersonal skills in order to engage with clients effectively, whilst also liaising with parents and families in an informative and professional manner. You’ll have strong negotiation and problem solving skills, with the ability to think laterally and adjust therapy methods to ensure continued client engagement.

Importantly, you’ll have a sense of fun, with a passion for the services you provide and a commitment to ensuring each client receives the support and care they need to meet their therapy goals.
