About the Opportunity

Knauf Australia now has an exciting opportunity for a Warehouse Manager to lead operations in their Cairns facility, on a full-time basis.

Reporting to the Business Services Director, the Warehouse Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the warehouse, ensuring the provision of high quality service beyond customer expectations, to develop and maintain long term relationships with our customers. You will maintain administrative integrity of all processes and set a high standard for inventory management and safety in the warehouse. 

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include (but not be limited to):

  • Providing effective service and support to sales and distribution efforts in line with budgetary provisions and constraints;
  • Taking customer orders and picking, packing and loading customer orders;
  • Supervising all operational staff including checking and authorisation of time sheets and pay records;
  • Cycle counting as per Inventory Control Functional Plan;
  • Monitoring financials of store including P&L and regular reporting; and 
  • Ensuring effective and regular communication is used to keep all employees informed of all issues that would affect them and the business. 

Who is Knauf Looking For?

To be successful in this position you will have previous experience in a similar position, with a strong understanding and working knowledge of warehouse operations, including transportation and freight. In addition, as you will be managing a small team, you will be a strong leader with demonstrable experience in a supervisory position and the ability to manage all employee related matters on site, including training, staff engagement and performance management, as required. 

This is a highly autonomous and hands-on role, that requires a superior communicator, with the ability to establish and maintain strong business relationships with all customers, suppliers and other employees. As a motivating leader, you will also be assertive in your approach and not afraid to make tough decisions when necessary to get the best results.

Finally, you will demonstrate a positive health and safety attitude and promote health and safety practices among coworkers. A forklift license and MR license is essential for this position, and any experience using SAP will be very highly regarded. 

Please note: Due to the physical nature of this role, the successful candidates will be required to do a certain amount of manual handling and repetitive movements including continually walking up and down stairs, shovelling, chiseling and operating precision hand tools. You will also be required to provide evidence of your licences and qualifications prior to commencement with Knauf.
