About the Opportunity

Skeans Pneumatic and Automation Inc. has an exciting opportunity for a Purchasing Assistant to join our team in Coquitlam, BC. 

In this role, you will be responsible for efficiently buying a wide variety of technical and non-technical parts, inventory and services within company policies for SKEANS. 

As a dedicated team player, you will establish positive relationships with key suppliers working to ensure timely delivery and contract terms compliance. This dynamic, multi-faceted position focuses on understanding the current and future supply needs through regular communication with sales, customer service representatives and warehousing to ensure timely levels of supply.

You will also be required to use your strong attention to detail to carry out the following duties:

  • Issuing purchase orders and ensuring orders are processed correctly
  • Confirming orders by verifying delivery dates, details and logistics planning
  • Expediting open orders by following up on shipping dates
  • Processing, changing and communicating purchase order changes with supply partners
  • Performing statistical review and administrative tasks to support Purchasing department
  • Selecting daily outgoing shipments based on incoming supply
  • Freight claims processing
  • Non-conformance resolution 

This is the perfect opportunity for candidates with 2 - 4 years' experience in a Buyer or Purchasing role or similar. A Post-Secondary degree in CPIM, SCMA or similar will be considered an asset, as will a Certificate of Industrial Distribution.

 Our ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience negotiating pricing, terms and issue resolution, the ability to work in a high-paced environment, experience using ERP systems like MS Office365 and Sharepoint, experience working with bills of materials and manufacturing cost accounting procedures, excellent mathematical and problem-solving skills, time management skills, and most importantly be adaptable as no two days are the same in this dynamic role!
