Diabetes Australia was established in 1984 and is the national body for people affected by all types of diabetes and those at risk. Diabetes Australia works in partnership with diabetes health professionals and researchers and is committed to reducing the impact of diabetes on the Australian community.

The National Diabetes Services Scheme (NDSS) is an initiative of the Australian Government administered with the assistance of Diabetes Austalia. The Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM) Education and Support Program is a project that has been established to support the introduction of CGM products on 1 April 2017 into the suite of diabetes-self management supplies available for eligible NDSS registrants.

The CGM Education and Support Program consists of four separate initiatives designed to support the Government’s investment by maximising the benefit that the individual eligible registrant will experience from using CGM therapy. 

About the Opportunity

Diabetes Australia now has an exciting opportunity for a Project Officer to join the Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM) Education and Support Program team in Canberra. This role is being offered on a full-time, short-term contract basis for up to 8 months.

Reporting to the Program Manager, NDSS, the Project Officer coordinates all tasks required to ensure the timely delivery of the outputs and the outcomes of the CGM Education and Support Program as detailed in the approved program plan. 

Your key accountabilities will include, but may not be limited to:

  • Developing and maintaining collaborative and effective stakeholder relationships that contribute to successful project delivery;
  • Leading the development of CGM information, resources and support for children, young people and their families using CGM;
  • Leading the development of CGM resources and education for health professionals;
  • Monitoring and enhancing the quality and efficiency of CGM-related telephone support provided via the NDSS Helpline; and
  • Monitoring and reporting on project progress, risks and budgets.

To be considered for this position you will have previous experience in a program and/or project management capacity, with the ability to achieve deliverables and outcomes on time, within budget and within scope. 

Candidates with tertiary qualifications in a health-related field and/or a background in the health sector and/or in health education campaigns, will be highly regarded. 

Critical to your success in this position will be strong stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to communicate effectively and sensitively with stakeholders from multiple agencies and departments. You will be a self-directed individual who can work autonomously when required and be flexible as demands and priorities change.
