About the Opportunity

Methanex has an opening for a Student Instrumentation Technician who is interested in expanding their skill set with our team in Medicine Hat, AB, during the summer of 2018 (approximately May 7, 2018, through August 31, 2018). 

Working under the guidance of the I & E Supervisor, the Student Instrument Technician will work as part of a team to ensure the safe, efficient, and effective completion of all instrumentation and electrical maintenance tasks.

This is open to students who are currently enrolled in post-secondary studies and will be returning to studies upon the completion of the summer term.

Please note that this position is based on a 9/80 compressed work schedule.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting with the installation and maintenance of instruments on new and existing plant equipment or processes
  • Assisting with general labour duties
  • Assisting the Instrumentation and Electrical team
  • Participating in special projects as assigned
  • Adhering to all Methanex health, safety, and environmental policies

To qualify for these positions, you will need:

  • Successful completion of first-year studies within an Instrumentation Engineering Technology diploma program or undergraduate Electrical Engineering or Chemical Computer Process Control Engineering program
  • Mechanical aptitude is an asset

The ideal candidate will be extremely organized and detail oriented with strong time management and prioritization skills. You must also be customer focused and dedicated to meeting the expectations of internal and external customers.

Above all, you must be independently motivated and able to work effectively with minimal supervision with a flexibility and willingness to work in a team environment.
