About the Opportunity

Gateway now has a unique opportunity for a State Manager to lead their community teams across Queensland. This is a full-time role, based in Brisbane with regular travel to QLD community locations.

Reporting to the Head of Operations, this role will see you managing the entire operation of QLD Gateway Communities (13 in total), ensuring the highest standard of service while maximising profitability.

In addition, you will be responsible for designing and implementing appropriate standard operating procedures and ensuring compliance of all internal standards, policies and external regulatory requirements

Some of your key duties will include:

  • Monitoring the ongoing financial position of the State, and taking appropriate action to maximise profitability;
  • Assisting with the preparation and monitoring of budgets, and ensuring proper financial controls are adhered to;
  • Attending to all operational queries escalated by Community Managers;
  • Conducting regular visits / audits to to ensure Communities comply with company procedures, policies and standards;
  • Managing the compliance of health, safety and environmental obligations and requirements in conjunction with the HSE Manager;
  • Leading annual rent reviews for all communities within the State;
  • Monitoring and managing staff performance in consultation with HR; and
  • Working collaboratively with corporate functions to achieve the overall goals of Gateway.

The successful candidate will hold tertiary qualifications within a relevant discipline (ideally Business), along with management experience at a state or regional level. A background in hospitality, property, aged care management or similar would be well suited to this role, as it will demonstrate your multiple-site dispersed asset/people management skills.

As Gateway is a performance driven organisation and you will be responsible for ensuring profit maximisation, it's essential you be financially literate, with experience in financial reporting practices, output interpretation, budgeting, and ensuring ledgers run in a profitable manner.

Another key focus of this role will be implementing standardised processes and systems across QLD, to be replicated across other states. As such, you must be highly organised, procedural, and skilled in developing systems, plans, protocols and frameworks to support the evolution of effective standard operating procedures.

Importantly, you'll also have a customer service focus, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills. The ability to work collaboratively with all business functions will be key to your success.
