About the Organisation

Wirraka Maya has the mission of ensuring that Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander health education and training is culturally relevant, based on good practice, and serves the needs of both industry and Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander communities.

Wirraka Maya was born from the efforts of Aboriginal people to establish a health service that addressed the unmet needs of Aboriginal people in the town of Port Hedland. It now provides a service to the greater Port Hedland and South Hedland area and communities at Strelley, Woodstock and Warralong.

Wirraka Maya Health Service is an AGPAL accredited incorporated organisation established in 1993.

About the Opportunity

Wirraka Maya now has a full-time opportunity for an RTO Clinical Trainer to join their South Hedland team.

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, you will be responsible for planning, developing, preparing, and delivering training on the scope of the Wirraka Maya Health Service RTO. You will also be required to assist with the development and delivery of professional development programs.

More specifically, some of your responsibilities will include (but will not be limited to):

  • Developing training programs;
  • Ensuring training schedules meet training requirements in conjunction with the Clinical team;
  • Providing accurate and timely reports in compliance with relevant training and legislative bodies;
  • Ensuring all training programs are fully documented and accessible including learning outcomes, session plans, activities, and resources;
  • Attending and participating in team meetings and service meetings; and
  • Identifying training and professional development opportunities to enhance the training system.

About You

To be successful in this role, it is essential that you hold a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, as well as one of the following:

  • Certificate IV in Aboriginal and / or Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care Practice
  • Registered Nurse qualification

Previous experience in developing training programs aligned with the Australian Qualifications Training Framework qualifications and knowledge/experience with delivering VET programs will also be required.

Your exceptional communication skills will be key to your success in this role, including the ability to negotiate, consult and resolve conflict.

In addition, candidates will need to have strong Microsoft Office, time management, and organisational skills.
