A New Opportunity Awaits
Ya YA Foods currently has an exciting career opportunity for a Senior Cost Accountant to join our team in Toronto.
Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer (COO), you will perform a variety of analysis such as yield calculation by product and customer. You will also review operation results and customer/product profitability to provide value-added analysis for use by management in controlling and monitoring efficiencies and margin.
Key accountabilities include, but aren't limited to:
- Reviewing and analyzing operational results on labor, material, and manufacturing overhead variances and identifying root causes
- Reviewing, modifying, and maintaining a chart of accounts in our ERP system
- Developing product costing and providing sales and margin analysis on products and customers (as needed)
- Working closely with other members of accounting team to ensure all month end activities are completed in a timely manner
- Leading all new product cost accounting tasks
- Calculating savings for capital projects developed by the Operations team
- Working closely with our Operations team and providing directions on costing functions
- Developing and maintaining direct labour cost setup in crew profiles and ERP system
- Participating in conducting and valuing physical inventories
- Suggesting process improvements to achieve greater efficiency and continuous improvement of systems, including reviewing and updating KPIs
In order to qualify for this role, you will have a Bachelors degree in Accounting and a minimum of 6 years of cost accounting experience. You will also have a professional accounting designation such as a CPA, or equivalent, or will be close to completing this.
Previous experience working in a food manufacturing environment and/or working knowledge of Microsoft Navision ERP are both definite assets.
With effective written and verbal communications skills, you are a natural leader who is flexible and able to work in a fast-paced environment. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to build relationships is crucial, as is the ability to work as part of a collaborative team.
