Oxworks is an Australian organisation that manufactures and supplies factory direct fencing, gates, screens, and balustrades. They specialise in the manufacture of glass, aluminium & steel products for home improvement and major project works. Oxworks stock a range of products and fencing supplies from DIY to Commercial projects.

About the Role

Oxworks now has multiple full-time and casual opportunities for Welders and Fabricators to join their team based in Crestmead, Brisbane.

In this role, your main responsibility will be to set up layouts to fabricate metal assemblies and weldments. You will also use technical drawings and various other specifications/verbal instructions for planning and accomplishing set tasks. 

More specifically, some of your day to day duties will include (but will not be limited to):

  • Cutting and joining metal parts for fabricating, fencing panels, gates, frames, and various other articles by applying tools e.g. TIG/MIG Welder, drop and up-cut saw, oxyacetylene torch;
  • Fabricating products to meet clients custom requirements using manufacturer specifications, drawings, and measuring devices;
  • Conducting regular quality checks throughout the fabrication process to ensure products are manufactured to specification the first time;
  • Designing and creating holding jigs that aid in fabrication of the parts in various numbers;
  • Maintaining a record of work completed to assist the facilitation of accounting activities; and
  • Maintaining routine inventory supplies used for operating the welding unit via inspection of stocks and advising the supervisor before consumables are required.

To be successful in this role, you must have a relevant qualification/certification in TIG/MIG welding, demonstrated experience in a similar role, and excellent technical capabilities.

You will also need to have a basic knowledge of welding symbols and blueprint reading skills. Your ability to work with complicated welding tools like ox-fuel, MIG/TIG, etc will be key to your success in this role.

Additionally, candidates will need to be safety conscious and have a knowledge of precautions related to occupational hazards, procedures and practices of the trade, and understand how to use power and hand tools in the safest possible manner.

While not essential, candidates who hold a White Card will be highly regarded.
