About the Opportunity

Our client is a global leader in the packaging industry with a Head Office based in Europe and manufacturing facilities and subsidiaries throughout Europe, the USA, and the Asia Pacific region. 

With aggressive growth target within the Asia-Pacific region planned in the next 2 years, our client now has an exciting opportunity for a sales hungry Business Development Manager to join their team based in either Sydney (western suburbs) or Adelaide, on a full-time basis. 

Reporting to the Director, this role will see you primarily responsible for prospecting and securing new business leads and developing strong working relationships in order to increase state sales revenue and growth.

Your duties will include, but will not be limited to:

  • Building and maintaining a sales pipeline through establishing and nurturing strong B2B relationships;
  • Researching and developing lead contact lists, contacting cold and warm leads, and gathering information for prospect suitability;
  • Identifying and developing growth opportunities in currently untapped sectors;
  • Nurturing relationships with existing clients and identifying opportunities within this group for further sales growth;
  • Developing and maintaining a comprehensive knowledge of company strategy, positioning and operations, alongside maintaining a strong knowledge of market and competitor knowledge;
  • Preparing and delivering sales presentations for clients; and
  • Participating in weekly and quarterly sales team meetings, and preparation of reports, sales plans etc as required.

What you need to succeed

If you are looking for an account management position where you can spend most of your time in the office  - this is not the role for you. Instead, with prime clients and markets currently untapped and waiting, this role presents an exciting opportunity for a sales person wanting to prove themselves, to hit the ground running and make some fast in-roads with sales and new clients. 

To be considered for this position you will be a self-motivated sales 'hunter', with proven experience in B2B sales and a strong technical sales background in a like industry (ie machinery, manufacturing, plant, engineering solutions or similar). Candidates with packaging industry experience will be highly regarded. 

You will have a mechanical aptitude which will help you pick up product knowledge quickly and you will be confident in sharing this knowledge with clients in order to tailor them the best possible products and system solutions for their specific requirements. 

As you will be spending a large amount of time on the road, you must be comfortable working autonomously and within a KPI, sales target driven environment.
