About MoneyMob Talkabout

MoneyMob Talkabout is a not for profit organisation delivering financial literacy education and counselling with and for people in remote Indigenous communities, to help them positively manage their money.

The program, based in the APY Lands, provides a one-stop shop for local community members to interact with the broader economy in a safe and supportive environment. Teams also visit other communities in South Australia from Pipalyatjarra to Indulkana providing services on an outreach basis.

About the Opportunity

MoneyMob Talkabout now has an exciting opportunity for a full-time Community Services Manager to join their team, based in Alice Springs, NT. There is opportunity for this role to be based out of the APY Lands or Oodnadatta for individuals already residing in these communities. 

This pivotal role will see you engaging with Indigenous community members to understand their preferences regarding financial education and service delivery.

Your key areas of responsibility will include:

  • Understanding and developing ways to respond effectively to community preferences regarding financial capability education;
  • Increasing Aboriginal led community education;
  • Increasing Aboriginal employment;
  • Supervising existing staff who work within the Financial Capability space, including managing compliance of contracts;
  • Providing quality supervision, support and training opportunities for the organisation's financial capability staff; and
  • Assisting MoneyMob Talkabout to move further towards being a service that is Aboriginal run and led.

About You

This is an exciting 2IC opportunity for someone looking to take the next step in their management career.

MoneyMob Talkabout is seeking a committed and driven Manager with previous experience leading, motivating, and developing staff, along with demonstrated experience working in Community Services (ideally within a remote area). Due to the nature of the role, you'll have knowledge of the financial capability sector, or the ability to quickly acquire this knowledge. Qualifications in education/training, community development, financial counselling/capability or similar will also be highly regarded.

To succeed in this position, you'll be passionate about helping Aboriginal people find ways to combat poverty and financial disadvantage/exploitation, and will bring an open minded, creative approach to improving the services offered by MoneyMob Talkabout.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to communicate with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders will be pivotal to your success in this role. You'll also be highly organised with great time management skills, ideally with experience in report writing/research.

Importantly, MoneyMob Talkabout is looking for a Manager who is interested in ongoing education and development, with a view to develop as a Senior Manager / CEO. You'll be keen to work alongside the current Managing Director to provide education and insight into the Indigenous perspective, in a professional and constructive way.

Please Note: This position requires frequent travel via 4WD vehicle. To be eligible for consideration, you must hold a current Driver's License and be able to drive 4WD vehicles independently on remote roads. Employment will also be subject to National Police Clearance.
