About the Organisation

The Victorian Aboriginal Child Care Agency (VACCA) is leading community controlled Aboriginal child and family welfare organisation in Victoria. The protect and promote the rights of Aboriginal children and young people and provide programs and services to reinforce Aboriginal culture. VACCA also encourages best parenting practices and advises the government in relation to child abuse and neglect in the Aboriginal community.

About the Opportunities

The Victorian Aboriginal Child Care Agency (VACCA) now has multiple opportunities available for Senior Caseworker and Caseworkers to join their dedicated teams in Preston, Ringwood, and Frankston, VIC on a full-time basis.

The current roles available are:

  • Kinship Care Caseworker x 3 (Preston, Ringwood, Frankston);
  • Foster Care Caseworker x 3 (Preston, Ringwood, Frankston); and
  • Senior Caseworker (Preston).

In the Kinship Care Caseworker role, your main responsibility will be to provide case management support to carers and children involved in statutory kinship care placements.

In the Foster Care Caseworker role and Senior Caseworker role, you will provide culturally safe service to support Aboriginal children and young people who are in out-of-home placements. The Program provides support to the families of the children and to carers. VACCA works towards reuniting children, wherever possible, with natural parents and extended families.

To be successful in these roles, it is essential that you have a sound knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal culture and issues facing Aboriginal children and their families today.

You will also need to have significant demonstrated experience in a similar role and/or hold a Diploma in Community Services.

In addition, VACCA is looking for candidates who display excellent interpersonal skills and who can build a strong rapport and create relationships with carers, families, and children. As such, you will have an open mind, non-judgmental attitude, compassion, and resilience.
