About the Opportunity

Kogarah Community Services now has an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Coordinator - Outside School Hours Care to join their team in Kogarah, in Sydney's southern suburbs. This is a permanent position within the KCS team with future opportunities for career progression.

Reporting to the Manager - Children's Services, you will be primarily responsible for providing a quality Before and After School Care service for up to 75 children each morning and 145 children each afternoon during NSW Public School terms and up to 105 children each day during NSW Public School holiday periods.

More specifically, your responsibilities will include (but will not be limited to):

  • Supporting the Coordinator - Children's Services with the day-to-day operations of the service;
  • Ensuring compliance with OSHC legislation, national regulations, as well as KCS policies and procedures;
  • Providing children with a range of educational and fun activities with learning and development outcomes in a safe and enjoyable environment;
  • Assisting the childcare management team with the implementation of policies, procedures and systems, with a focus on consistency both within areas of responsibility and across the organisation;
  • Communicating with families in relation to the needs of their children within the centre; and
  • Undertaking physical duties involved with working with school aged children in an OSCH setting on a daily basis.

About You

To be considered for this position you will hold a minimum of a Certificate IV in Early Childhood Education or similar and have experience planning, implementing and evaluating programs for school aged children. Diploma qualified candidates will be highly regarded.

This is a very large and busy Centre that works with children from Kindergarten through to Year 6, including a number of children with additional needs. As such, KCS is looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and creative individual with a genuine passion for providing a fun and safe environment for the children in your care. 

Excellent communication skills and attention to detail will also be a must, particularly when it comes to communicating with families regarding their children. 

Candidates must have a current working with children check and they must have a willingness to be a nominated supervisor.
