About the Opportunity

The Village Retirement Group now has a full-time opportunity for a Maintenance Officer to become an integral part of the team based in Toowoomba at The Village on the Downs.

Reporting to the Village Manager, you will assist with the overall maintenance of Village buildings, grounds, plant and equipment. You will provide technical advice and 'hands on' services, with a focus on planned and preventative maintenance and safety.

Some of your key responsibilities will include (but will not be limited to):

  • Processing resident maintenance slip requirements and coordinating with contractors for work to be done;
  • Scheduling preventative maintenance;
  • Assisting with furniture set up in the community centre for functions/events;
  • Maintaining the storage of chemicals in a clean and safe manner; and
  • Maintaining the utility vehicle. 

About You

This is an incredibly varied role and would be well suited to a handyperson or an ex-tradesperson who is looking to move away from the day-to-day trade grind.

To be successful, you must be a mature individual with the ability to perform the physical tasks required in this role. Previous experience in a similar or trade role, trade qualifications, or a background in the facilities/accommodation industry will be held in high regard, however, is not essential. 

Candidates will also need to hold a current manual driver's license.

As you will be dealing with residents of the Village on a daily basis, it is important that you are personable and friendly whilst being able to maintain professionalism.

Please note: Candidates are required to hold or undergo a criminal history check and first aid certification.
