About Cropwatch and Sweeter Soils

Cropwatch Information Services Pty Ltd (Cropwatch) was formed in July 1993 in response to market structure and supply issues; food safety and environmental concerns; and import threats within the Australian banana industry.

Cropwatch provides pest and disease monitoring services to the North Queensland banana industry, with a client base spread across all major production groups and boutique growers in conventional, Eco and organic production systems.

Cropwatch recently acquired Sweeter Soils - a consultancy service working with farmers to create a soil environment free of chemical, structural & biological limitation, perfect for growing great crops. Working with the Bactivate range of products to improve soil and crop health, Sweeter Soils has enabled Cropwatch to expand their service offering to include avocados, limes, melons, pasture, taro, turf, plant nurseries and mangoes.

About the Opportunity

Cropwatch now has an exciting opportunity for a Agronomist to join their team in Innisfail, QLD on a full-time basis. Working on a 2-4 week cycle, you will be primarily responsible for visiting farms within Innisfail and surrounding regions, conducting surveys on the quality of the crops and the levels of pests and/or diseases, then making recommendations back to clients on recommended actions to take moving forward.

With the recent acquisition of Sweeter Soils, there is now also the opportunity for this person to become involved in this part of the business, including business development and product sales, if this was something they were interested in pursuing.

The successful candidate is someone who wants to have a career in agriculture, with qualifications in agriculture or a related field. Ideally, you will have a rural background with an understanding of farming practices and machinery, however this is not compulsory for your success in this role.

Predominantly an outdoors job, you will need to be willing to work in all conditions and have a moderate level of fitness. While based in town, you will be on the road visiting clients regularly, so a current manual drivers licence is also required.

This position will be well suited to someone who is methodical and scientifically minded, with good client-facing communication skills and the ability to self-manage your workload. Most importantly, you will conduct all of your work with honest and integrity to uphold the Cropwatch name in the marketplace.

About the Benefits

Cropwatch is an equal opportunity employer. For your hard work and dedication you will be rewarded with a starting salary circa $46,800 + super, negotiable based on experience. In addition, a work vehicle and phone are provided as standard benefits for all employees. Relocation assistance will also be considered for applicants looking to move to Innisfail from intra or inter state.

Full on the job training will be provided, as well as ongoing mentoring and support, to ensure you have all the skills and confidence you need to succeed!

Genuine career progression opportunities are also available, with the option to take a more active role in running the whole Cropwatch business on offer for the right candidate.

This is a fantastic opportunity to advance your career in Agriculture in a supportive environment - Apply Now!
