An Exciting Opportunity Awaits  

We currently have multiple opportunities for Member Services Representatives to join our team in both Winnipeg and Steinbach, Manitoba for both permanent and term positions.

In these roles, you will provide exceptional service to both existing and potential members by analyzing needs and promoting applicable SCU products and services, primarily non-cash deposit products and services.

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 

  • Delivering a needs-based style of service according to SCU’s service delivery model
  • Understanding the member’s financial needs to determine the products and/or services which best meet those needs (current and future)
  • Responding to member inquiries on SCU products and services and resolving member questions and concerns wherever possible, and referring more complex issues to Management
  • Processing transactions including, but not limited to, new account openings and registered products 
  • Building and strengthening member relationships by identifying member needs, cross-selling and promoting the appropriate products and services
  • Differentiating between credit union and competitor’s products and services and using knowledge of member’s needs to effectively position the value of SCU products and services
  • Soliciting new members/business through referral and referring qualified prospects to specialists within the credit union
  • Reviewing credit bureau and assess credit worthiness when evaluating MasterCard applications, Overdraft Link Line requests, and new account openings, referring to Management when necessary
  • Processing transactions in the banking system while ensuring accuracy and efficiency at all times
  • Updating and maintaining departmental reports for tracking and record-keeping of monetary instruments
  • Acting as joint custodian on specified combinations and adhere to applicable security requirements

Working collaboratively, you will actively participate in the achievement of departmental and organizational goals. You will also be required to maintain up to date knowledge of SCU’s products and services, and have a thorough knowledge of compliance policies and procedures. 

Above all, you will maintain open communication and cooperation with other staff to ensure a friendly and efficient work environment, and always respond to members in a timely manner and providing backup support when necessary.

In order to qualify for this role, you will have a high school diploma plus a minimum of one year of related experience. A post-secondary diploma or certificate in business or a related field is a definite asset. 

You will do well in this role if you are a sales-orientated and results-focused professional with strong business acumen, mathematical aptitude, and software proficiency.  

Similarly, you will need to have the ability to communicate effectively both in person and over the telephone. Strong problem solving and interpersonal skills are essential, as is the ability to be flexible and work effectively as part of a team.
