About the Organization

The Pehdzeh Ki First Nation (PKFN) is located in the vibrant community of Wrigley, Northwest Territories. You will find the PKFN on the all-weather Mackenzie Highway #1, at the beginning of the winter road leading north to Inuvik. The residents stay true to their traditional lifestyle and still participate in activities including fur harvesting, hunting, and fishing.

PKFN is located along the east bank of the Mackenzie River. It is surrounded by old-growth mountains and thousands of hectares of boreal forest and freshwater lakes – a true playground for any nature lover or outdoor enthusiast.

With a population of approximately 120 people, PKFN also has strong economic growth potential. Opportunities for economic expansion exist with secured and future road or bridge contracts, regional mineral exploration, oil and gas projects, and tourism.  PKFN also owns and oversees a heavy equipment contracting company that is responsible for managing all highway-related contracts including the operation of a full-service camp/hotel which is situated in the community.

The area is highly accessible via all-season road or chartered air service from Fort Simpson.  It should be noted that the Highway #1 route northwards from Fort Simpson to Wrigley is seasonally accessed by either a ferry or ice road crossing which shuts down twice a year for spring break up and winter freeze up.  At this time the community is accessible by chartered air service only.
