About the Organisation

ChildrenFirst is a community-based not for profit organisation consisting of 6 Children's Centres and several Family Support Services. The organisation is dedicated to the education, nurture and care of children in their early years.

Originally established as far back as 1948, the organisation has grown and been redefined over the years, ChildrenFirst now manages over $8M of service provision in the Blacktown area and employs over 150 staff. ChildrenFirst has 52 first languages among our staff and 26 amongst our 1800+ children and families.

About the Opportunity

ChildrenFirst has an exciting opportunity for a can-do Centre Manager (Long Day Care) to join its custom-built Children’s Centre in Plumpton, in the Greater Western Sydney region.

As Centre Manager, you will be responsible for the overall operation of an effective and efficient childcare and educational facility plus leading a team of educators and staff. 

You will also be responsible for the financial management of the Centre, staff development, and compliance with internal and external regulations.

More specifically, some of your key duties will include (but will not be limited to):

  • Actively promoting and marketing the Centre to families and the community;
  • Ensuring staff development and maintaining strong professional relationships with families and children to deliver an effective response to each individual child's needs and development requirements;
  • Providing pedagogical leadership to ensure quality care, education, and development programs for children;
  • Guiding the planning, implementation, evaluation, and enhancement of quality curriculum and programs within the Early Years Framework;
  • Ensuring that operational systems, records, and knowledge bases are well maintained to support day-to-day operations, evaluating new business opportunities, and strategies to deliver a high level of business retention;
  • Preparing and managing the Centre's business plans and budgets; and
  • Providing leadership and direction for educators including review and evaluation of service delivery models, best practice, and support for their professional development.

To be successful in this position, candidates will need to hold a tertiary qualification (Diploma, Degree, etc) in Early Childhood Education or equivalent and hold significant experience in a similar role.

As this is a leadership position, previous experience in management will be critical to your success in this role. An aptitude for management and an ambitious and passionate leadership style, a must.

Candidates with an understanding of or experience with marketing, public relations, and sales in terms of increasing occupancy will be held in high regard.

Please note: Prior to commencement the successful candidate will need to obtain a Child Protection qualification recognised by DEC; a Working with Children Check and a First Aid Certificate.
