About Public Trustee

The office of the Public Trustee was established in 1881 and is constituted under the provisions of the Public Trustee Act 1995.

The role of the Public Trustee is to provide all South Australians with access to Will making services, powers of attorney preparation and deceased estate and trust administration. Public Trustee also has a role in managing the financial affairs of those people in the community who lack the capacity to manage their own affairs as determined by the courts, the South Australian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (SACAT) or through activation of powers of attorney.

Public Trustee is a separate agency within the broader departmental organisation of the Attorney-General’s Department.

 

About the Opportunity

This opportunity is to establish a relieving pool for of suitable candidates. Successful applicants will proceed to interviews and then placed in a pool and notified as suitable vacancies arise. Successful applications for the pool are valid for a period of twelve months for appointment to temporary positions arising throughout the 12 month period.

ASO1

The Administrative Officer – Relieving will provide administrative service within the Customer Service and Business and Client Financial Services branches.

More specifically, your day-to-day responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):

  • Contribute to the effective and efficient functioning of the Division through the provision of clerical and administrative support (i.e. answering phones, reception, photocopying documents, letter preparation, inputting data, processing invoices or vouchers etc.).

To be successful, you will have demonstrated ability to providing effective customer service, with a commitment to service excellence, proven ability to determine priorities, cope with high volumes of work, plan and organise workloads, achieve high standard results, communicate effectively both verbally and in writing and has the ability and commitment to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. Computer literacy, including the ability to use the Microsoft Office suite of products are essential.

ASO2

The Administrative Officer – relieving may:

  • Provide a personal administrative service within the Customer Service branches to individual clients for estates under the Public Trustee’s control. With guidance, provide advice and ensure clients’ needs are satisfied within the provisions of relevant Acts, Regulations and departmental procedures.
  • Contribute to the effective and efficient functioning of the Business and Client Financial Services branches through the provision of administrative support, receiving revenue and asset collection.

To be successful, you will have demonstrated experience providing high level customer service, proven ability to determine priorities, cope with high volumes of work, plan and organise workloads, achieve high standard results, communicate effectively both verbally and in writing and has the ability and commitment to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. Computer literacy, including the ability to use the Microsoft Office suite of products are essential.

Special Conditions for Employment

Employment is dependent upon a National Police Certificate clearance that the AGD finds satisfactory. Successful applicants will be advised to submit their National Police Check Application form, including certified identification documents, to the AGD if an interview is requested. The form is not to be lodged directly with SA Police (SAPOL) under any circumstances and any fees incurred by applicants in doing so will not be recoverable from the AGD. If you are invited for an interview you will be required to bring a completed Job Application Pack and National Police Clearance form and ID.

Some out of hours work may be required and you may be required to be on duty by 8.45 am and until 5.00 pm. Employees may be required to work in any branch of Public Trustee.
