Project Manager - International Health

PURPOSE

Burnet currently has a vacancy (parental leave position, part-time 0.8 FTE) for nine months within the International Project Management team.  The Project Manager will be primarily responsible for oversight of one country program, and will also provide support to review systems and processes in preparation for DFAT accreditation assessment.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Reporting to the Senior Program Manager, your responsibilities will include:

  • Program management, contract compliance and donor reporting
  • Financial monitoring,  budgeting, and reporting
  • Developing and monitoring consultant contracts
  • Maintaining strong working relationships with project stakeholders, including development partners and other implementing agencies as well as in-country and technical staff
  • Ensuring risk management and security plans are in place and updated regularly for in-country activities 
  • Reviewing, monitoring and developing organisational systems and processes, in line with DFAT accreditation requirements

CRITERIA

The successful incumbent will possess:

  • Significant experience in the management and implementation of development assistance project and/or programs
  • Demonstrated donor experience including contract negotiation and compliance management
  • Familiarity with DFAT NGO Accreditation standards
  • Practical experience in reviewing and improving project management tools and systems
  • Experience in financial monitoring, budgeting and reporting
  • Experience in developing and managing contracts for consultants and technical advisers
  • Excellent relationship management and communication skills
  • Overseas working experience in a development setting

 A University degree in field/s relevant to overseas development and experience in International health or health development is advantageous.
