About the role

 

Work closely with an established and experienced Partner in the corporate and commercial team with a range of clients/client industries and a range of corporate and commercial work, including initial public offerings, equity capital markets, mergers and acquisitions and wide range of general corporate and commercial work. You will be responsible for:

 

  • Working with clients on corporate and commercial matters across a variety of transactions and advisory situations
  • Reviewing developing case law and legislative changes
  • Drafting a broad range of documents that capture the context of the matter with a commercial approach
  • Conducting effective legal research and analysis to produce timely, commercial and legally accurate advice
  • Managing a robust workload, including prioritising work and delivering services effectively
  • Developing an understanding of client operations and strategy
  • Managing prospective client relationships and taking active steps to develop those relationships
  • Continual professional development and managing CPD requirements

 

 

The successful candidate

You will be supported in this close knit team, with mentoring and guidance from your leader. You will need to be self-motivated, have the capacity to work autonomously and within a team, manage junior lawyer and be adaptable in this dynamic environment.  Ideal background and skills include:

 

  • Ideally 4-5 years' PAE with a generalist corporate and commercial background, with exposure to equity capital markets
  • Training in a strong mid tier or top tier firm
  • Strong technical experience with great stakeholder management skills
  • Excellent drafting skills
  • A good working knowledge of the Corporations Act
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Client relationship focused and committed to establishing a long-term, successful career
  • Ability to relate to people at all levels and effectively work in a team
  • Capacity to handle yourself well in large and small meeting situations
  • Ability to work effectively to tight deadlines and manage time
  • Commercial acumen
  • Practical problem solving skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • An interest in business development
