JOB SUMMARY:
An excellent opportunity exists for a Manager of Human Resources to join our dynamic and committed team, providing all elements of the Human Resources function for the City. The successful applicant will report to the City Clerk/Deputy Chief Administrative Officer and provide high level department administration.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Manages and/or performs all elements of the Human Resources function for the City as directed by the City Clerk/Deputy CAO, including but not limited to:
- Supervision of HR department staff,
- Development, implementation and administration of related policies, initiatives, budgets and procedures,
- Advice and services related to the management of the workforce,
- Recruitment and employment of City staff,
- Maintaining strong relationships with the City’s unions,
- Advice to management regarding interpretation and application of collective agreements,
- Support to legal counsel and negotiators,
- Health and safety program [through a dedicated H&S resource],
- Training related to supervision and management of the workforce,
- Salary and benefits programs and job evaluation.
2. Acts as advisor to the CAO, Deputy CAO and other exempt staff on all matters related to the effective and legal management of the City’s workforce.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS:
- Proven superior interpersonal, communication, organization and management skills
- Proven negotiating and conflict resolution skills
- Proven project management skills
- Ability to work in and foster a team environment
- Strong computer skills, including MSOffice software suite
REQUIRED OUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Degree in business management or a related field
- Minimum of five years of related experience with significant labour relations experience
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
Preference will be given to applicants with designation of Certified Human Resources Professional.
