Expressions of Interest (EOI) are welcomed for Casual Children and Young People Support Services Workers (CYPSS)
for the Auckland, Hamilton, Tauranga, Whangarei and Christchurch regions.
** Casual Hours - Work is needs based, work is not consistent or systemic **
CYPSS Workers are responsible for supporting foster carers and the young people placed with them through the provision of direct work and support with children and young people, as and when required. This work is varied and includes planning and supporting activities, individual and group work, and transportation and supervising family contact. You will need to be a self-starter, comfortable with taking initiative, a creative problem solver, sharing your experience with a multi-disciplinary team of committed staff.
This work is on an as required flexible basis (casual hours), you may be required to work evenings and weekends if selected.
The successful applicant must have:
- Prior experience of working with children and young people who are over the age of 5 years old.
- Good communication and recording/reporting skills
- Good team work skills
- Proven knowledge and experience of youth and Maori culture
- Willingness to develop own skills and participate in learning opportunities
- A full open clean New Zealand drivers license and access to a insured vehicle is also an essential requirement. (Mileage and other expenses reimbursed)
Experience in working with people with complex needs and behaviours of concern is preferable along with knowledge of physical and mental health issues relevant to youth. This role would also suit someone who is currently studying, especially youth work, education, psychology or social work.
