About the Opportunity
Job Purpose
The prime purpose of the Web Developer is to help ensure that Flight Centre's web site is a driving force in e-commerce by having the most appropriate product relevant to the needs of the market and Flight Centre. Liaising with Marketing, Retail and Suppliers and coordinating all this is crucial to the success of the Web Developer
Essential Requirements
- High level of ability using Macromedia Dreamweaver and hand-coding to write and edit website code, CSS and knowledge of FTP programs
- High level of ability using Adobe Photoshop
- Familiarity with dynamic programming/scripting languages such as PHP, Java/JSP and Javascript
- Experience in Adobe Flash and ActionScripting 2.0 or 3.0
- Knowledgeable with modifying plugin and core WordPress files
Preferred Requirements
- Experience in Web Development within the Travel Industry
- Knowledge of XML, AJAX, MySql and PostgreSQL
- Understanding of SEO practices.

Responsibilities
Placement of Product
The Web-Developer is responsible for coordinating the placement of Rich Text, Product and Banner Ads on the web site. This will ensure that Flight Centre's strategic and operational objectives in relation to its e-commerce distribution channel maintains a competitive advantage over competitors in both look and feel and content offered.
Third Party Hosting
The Web Developer is occasionally responsible for liaising with third party hosting companies and for resolving issues, problems, errors and updating associated with third party hosting
Web Site Statistics
The Web Developer should be knowledgeable with a nominated set of web site statistics and for briefing members of the team and Leader on trends relevant to the business number of unique visitors to site (growth targets)Growth in on-line bookings (growth targets)
- Growth in referral from on-line to shops (bookings from store originating off web site referral)
- Visitor site time (stickiness growth targets)
Liaison and Co-ordination with the Web Co-ordinator and team
The Web Developer needs to proactively identify issues related to product, hosting, market trends which will have either a negative or positive impact on Flight Centre
