Context of the role

TGI has recently been awarded a team science grant titled “ChAracterizing, RevIving, Supporting, Monitoring and MAnaging Sustainable food systems to address malnutrition in indigenous tribal communities of India- CARISMMA sustainable food system study”. The study aims to explore food systems (production, processing, distribution, procurement, and consumption of food) of traditional indigenous communities of Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, and Meghalaya, to understand their sustainability and role in addressing malnutrition. 

 

The Role

We are looking for a Research Assistant who will be engaged in this multi-institutional and multi-centric study, who will be mainly responsible for supporting the core team in development of important study documents, coordinating with the field team for data collection and assisting in preparation of reports, manuals of procedures, and manuscripts.

 

Duties and Key Responsibilities

  • Support the core team in protocol development for food systems and nutrition research component
  • Support the core team in development of study tools and manual of procedures for food systems and nutrition research component
  • Provide support in conducting and coordinating workshops for training of the core team on tools for agro-ecological process evaluation
  • Pilot the study tools for food systems and nutrition research component
  • Supporting the SRF in periodic reports
  • Provide support in qualitative and quantitative data collection
  • Coordinate and supervise the field team at 1 field site

 

Skills, Knowledge and Experience

  • Qualifications: Masters in Food and Nutrition with 0-1 year of experience
  • Experience of field coordination, strong writing skills for preparing reports and manuscripts
  • Demonstrated capability to produce outcomes and achieve objectives within agreed time periods
  • Strong focus on producing the highest quality of work and on ensuring optimum accuracy of outputs
  • Well organised and efficient, with the capacity to work under pressure
