Research Overview

SMART Health is a primary healthcare “ecosystem” for resource-poor settings that is designed to enable the Systematic Medical Appraisal, Referral and Treatment (SMART) of patients at high-risk of premature death or disability. It is a low-cost, mobile-based, high quality healthcare delivery system that provides healthcare workers with personalized clinical decision support.

 

The Role

The Senior PHP Developer will be responsible for the overall development and maintenance of the SMARThealth digital platform in the institute and responsible for leading the SMARThealth technical team. She/he will be based in Hyderabad but should be willing and able to undertake domestic and international travel, as required. 

  

Duties and Key Responsibilities

  • To develop and manage all components of the SMARThealth platform.
  • Responsible for managing and leading the team of IT professionals at TGI and also manage the third-party IT vendors associated with the institute.
  • Participate in regular meetings with the research team and the SMARThealth technical team throughout the design, development, and testing of the application.
  • Should be able to analyze complex technical issues, provide guidance and solutions, and ensure that the team's work aligns with industry best practices and organizational standards.
  • Collaborate with other stakeholders to identify technology needs, evaluate options, and make informed decisions on technology adoption, infrastructure upgrades, and process improvements.
  • Need to effectively communicate IT initiatives, progress, and challenges, and build strong relationships with the research teams.

 

Skills, Knowledge and Experience

  • Minimum of 12 years working experience in PHP/MySQL applications
  • Knowledge of PHP web frameworks including CodeIgniter, Laravel, etc.
  • Design, architect, develop and implement secure and scalable critical business solutions
  • Translate Business and User needs into technical requirements and socialize architectural designs to the appropriate stakeholders
  • Knowledge of front-end technologies including CSS3, JavaScript, and HTML5
  • Understanding of object-oriented PHP programming
  • Proficient with code versioning tools including Git, Bitbucket and SVN
  • Knowledge in Database like MySQL, SQL, Postgres and able to write queries on own
  • Strong knowledge of the common PHP or web server (Apache, Nginx, etc.) exploits and their solutions
  • Strong analytical and technical ability with hands on experience in building and using RESTful Web Services using PHP. 
  • Good interpersonal skills, work cross-functionally across different project teams and departments
  • Attention to detail and ability to meet project deadlines
  • Availability and willingness to undertake national and international travel
  • Desirable: knowledge on Python language, automated CI/CD and Devops.
