Context: Better treatments programme is one of the research pillars of TGI. As part of this program, several clinical trials in the area of NCDs, chronic Kidney disease, COVID-19 and other disease areas are being conducted. This gives an opportunity to aspiring researchers to learn various skills required through the life cycle of a project.
George institute in collaboration with the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Delhi has developed a behavioural intervention delivered via a mobile application aimed to support monitoring of rehabilitation following knee replacement. This is a 5-year project and currently it is in the intervention phase. This project is funded by DBT-Wellcome trust India Alliance. We are a multi-disciplinary research team consisting of public health researchers, , surgeons, physiotherapists and digital health specialists. We require a physiotherapist who will be a part of research team. They should be based out of Delhi. It will be a paid internship.
The role of intern would be to assit with various project related activities along with the team members. This will assist in development of key skills such as communications, teamwork, and attention to detail and will also expose the student to real life research environment.
Supervisor
The intern will be reporting to research Officer and supervised by Lead, Better Treatment.
Scope of Work
The intern would be expected to:
• Familiarize with research protocol and the processes
• Assist in recruitment of patients from clinical site
• Communicate with patients and family members
• Coordinate with the physiotherapy department of the clinical site
• Coordinate data collection activities
• Translation (English to Hindi) of documents
• Other work assigned by supervisor
The intern should also:
• Be available for team meetings
• Be able to compile weekly report and share with the team
• Liaise with other team members (internal and external) as required
Work, Health and Safety
• Comply with GI’s Work Health and Safety Policy and related procedures, and similar policies which apply when visiting the premises of affiliates and collaborating sites
• Promote and contribute to a safe, secure environment for staff and visitors
Skills, Knowledge and Experience
• Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in physiotherapy
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Medium level of proficiency in English and read and write Hindi
• Prior experience of working in hospital setup
• Basic knowledge in working in Microsoft applications (MS word, MS excel)
• Demonstrated capability to produce outcomes and achieve objectives within agreed time periods
• Well organised and efficient, with the capacity to work under strict time-lines
• Ability to demonstrate flexibility and to be adaptable to changing project priorities, work with other project team members and ambiguous environments
• Ability to focus on producing the high-quality work and on ensuring optimum accuracy of outputs
