About The George Institute
The George Institute for Global Health was established in 1999 with a mission to improve the health of millions of people worldwide, particularly underserved populations, by challenging the status quo and using innovative approaches to prevent and treat the world’s biggest killers: non-communicable diseases and injury.
With offices in Australia, China, India and the UK, our 700+ people support 245+ active projects and clinical trials across 50+ countries, with 400+ more staff across our social enterprises. We focus on the global health challenges that cause the greatest loss of life, the greatest impairment of life quality and the most substantial economic burden, particularly in resource-poor settings.
Together with our academic partners, UNSW Sydney in Australia, Manipal Academy of Higher Education in India and Imperial College London in the United Kingdom, we work with a global network of collaborators, undertaking clinical, population and health systems research.

Context of the role
The Project Manager will support the development of The George Institute’s Impact Report (0.6 FTE) and the functioning of the global Advisory Boards (0.4 FTE). The role is situated in the Institute’s global Impact & Engagement team.
The Impact & Engagement (I&E) program supports the achievement of the research impact goals set out under the strategic research priorities by:
Impact & Engagement team members in Australia, India and the UK work collaboratively, sharing expertise and evidence. The team also ensures a two-way relationship between regional activities and multilateral and global engagement.
Project overview
The George Institute is moving from a traditional annual report in pdf format to an interactive, digital report that showcases the impact of its work for key audiences via infographics, videos, case studies and photos. The Impact Report will provide compelling content to support ongoing resource mobilisation, branding, marketing, and stakeholder engagement, and will highlight The George's leadership in health research and improving healthcare delivery, telling a compelling story of the Institute’s progress towards its goal of improving health worldwide.
The George Institute has convened a global Advisory Board of leading experts from around the world to develop recommendations related to clinical trials. The Board will hold a series of virtual meetings before presenting its recommendations to the Institute’s leadership team and governance board at an in-person meeting in March 2025. The Institute intends to set up a series of fixed-term Advisory Boards to focus on specific issues, in order to gain new insights and advice and test our strategic thinking.
The role
The Project Manager will be responsible for planning and coordinating activities related to the Impact Report and the Advisory Boards, ensuring they are delivered within budget, on time and to an excellent standard. The role involves coordinating with a range of internal and external stakeholders and ensuring that project outcomes align with the Institute's strategic objectives.
For the Impact Report, this will include working with external stakeholders including a content creation platform, freelance writer and video production company, and internal stakeholders from the communications, philanthropy, research services and data strategy teams. The Project Manager will work to a timeline for the creation of different elements of the report, including impact stories, lived experience case studies and publication impact metrics, and will work with other stakeholders to ensure all elements are delivered in a coordinated and timely manner and contribute to a high-quality, compelling final output that meets project objectives.
For the Advisory Boards, the role will involve working with the Global Director, Impact & Engagement to plan and ensure delivery of supporting materials ahead of each meeting; coordinating with Board members to ensure strong attendance and engagement; producing minutes, action points and other materials after each meeting as required; and leading on the administrative aspects of the project. The role will also involve capturing learning from the process of establishing the first Advisory Board, developing metrics to report on its impact, and planning for the second Advisory Board, including the identification of potential members.
