The Opportunity:
We have an exciting opportunity for a Research Assistant/ Associate in our Food Policy Program. This role will be well suited to applicants willing to pursue a PhD.
Relating to Food sustainability with a focus on how the complexities of the environmental impact of the food system and individual food products can be conveyed to the general public in particular.
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
Collating study materials and drafting copy for peer-reviewed journal articles relating to the above work
Provide administrative and technical support to the study team
Synthesise literature and contribute to systematic reviews
Assist with the preparation of grant applications
Assist with ethics applications and documentation
Assist with the preparation of advocacy documentation
Assist with study tracking and documentation
Assist in the distribution of study documents to investigators
Assist with planning and organising regular meetings
Assist with the preparation of study-related presentation materials
Data entry, ensuring data quality, accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of data completion
Prepare paperwork required by the study and any study materials
Assist in managing effective communication with the key stakeholders (e.g., study participants, project investigators, and government and NGO representatives)
Assist with the preparation of reports and publications as required
Other tasks as directed by the senior investigator team
Ad hoc project work as required
Skills, Knowledge and Experience/ Our Successful Candidate
Essential
Tertiary qualifications in science, health, consumer research, or communications discipline
Experience in quantitative and/or qualitative research methodologies
Excellent written language communication skills and ability to draft a wide range of documents
Excellent organisational skills, having the ability to organise, take initiative, and follow up independently
Methodical and systematic, with good attention to detail
Proficient in the use of the Microsoft Office suite of products, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
Ability to be flexible and adaptable in the face of changing organisational priorities
Ability to work well within a research team and excellent interpersonal skills
Strong focus on quality of work
Flexibility to work non-standard hours of work for collaboration and contact with global teams based on requirements of the position
A desire to undertake a PhD in the area of food sustainability at the end of the contract period.
