Pro-Rata Salary Range of $95k Base to $120k Base (dependent on experience, skills and capabilities) plus 12% Superannuation + Smart Salary Packaging Benefit

The Opportunity: 

The Athena SWAN Project Manager will be responsible for leading and managing our Athena Swan Cygnet and Silver applications as well as provide expertise in relation to gender equity and diversity and inclusion policies and initiatives at The George Institute.

 

 Key Responsibilities and Duties: 

  • Lead and manage the Athena Swan program, including staff consultations, data analysis, and submission of Silver and Cygnet Award applications.
  • Implement and support Gender Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (GEDI) policies and initiatives aligned with the Institute’s People strategy.
  • Coordinate the Athena Swan Self-Assessment Team and maintain relationships with key external GEDI networks (e.g., UNSW, SAGE, AAMRI).
  • Drive GEDI projects, promote training and events, track progress against benchmarks, and embed best practices across the organisation.

 

Skills, Knowledge and Experience/ Our Successful Candidate  

  • Demonstrated relevant experience working in a Diversity and Inclusion role, and/or tertiary qualifications in Human Resources and/or extensive experience in a generalist HR role with significant involvement in the delivery of Diversity and Inclusion-related projects and initiatives
  • Experience working on the Athena Swan accreditation process is advantageous
  • Excellent organisational and project management skills with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, including the ability to plan and prioritise multiple tasks to meet competing deadlines
  • Strong knowledge of developing practices, policies, processes and evaluation tools in diversity and inclusion and organisational change.
  • Experience building relationships across a wide range of stakeholders within an organisation
  • Passion for enhancing the work environment for all team members.
  • Ability to understand and learn about a diverse range of experiences and backgrounds
  • Ability to work with a wide range of stakeholders and managing diverse perspectives in a respectful way
  • Excellent written and interpersonal skills, as well as demonstrated collaboration skills
  • A proactive approach demonstrating initiative, judgement, and a high degree of confidentiality.
  • Proficient in the use of the Microsoft Office suite of products
  • Flexibility to work non-standard hours of work for collaboration and contact with global teams based on requirements of the position
