Pro-Rata Salary Range of $99,100 to $114,00 Base (dependent on experience, skills and capabilities). Plus 12% Superannuation and access to Not-for-Profit Salary Packaging with a value of up to $15,900. (more information provided below).
The Opportunity: Research Associate will work within the NSW-based team at TGI to develop new flagship projects that advance sex and gender equity in health and medicine. The Research Associate will also contribute to ongoing national work, where appropriate and aligned with the Research Associate’s expertise, across the Centre’s five working groups (spanning preclinical research, health and social research, health delivery and translation, capacity building, and business translation).
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
Leading the development of a clearly defined research program within the Centre, building on the expertise of the Research Associate and the Centre’s existing portfolio of work. Initial projects may include:
Developing dissemination materials for sex and gender inclusion in health and medical curricula targeted at educators, building off the findings of the Centre’s recent national review of curricula.
Assessing baseline sex and gender literacy amongst Australian health and medical students and developing and testing novel means of enhancing literacy.
Working with the TGI data science team to develop AI-based tools to measure sex and gender integration in research output over time to support the implementation of the NHMRC Statement.
Synthesising literature and contributing to systematic reviews
Writing academic manuscript(s) for peer reviewed publications
Presenting (via webinars and conference symposia) on the topic of sex and gender equity in health and medicine to a wide range of audiences
Assist in the preparation of Human Research Ethics Committee (HREC) submissions
Contribute towards building future projects and grant applications
Effectively produce and maintain project data.
Conduct data analysis and prepare data for publications and reporting
Regularly update study tracking tools and systems
Manage effective communication with internal and external Centre staff and key stakeholders

Skills, Knowledge and Experience/ Our Successful Candidate
Tertiary qualifications in science or healthcare discipline
Completing PhD or master’s degree
In-depth knowledge on the topic of sex and gender equity in health and medicine with a minimum of 2–3 years of experience in the field
Experience in developing, conducting, and managing high-quality research projects
Excellent written language communication skills and ability to draft a wide range of documents
Excellent verbal communication skills
Excellent organisational skills, having the ability to organise, take initiative and follow up independently
Methodical and systematic, with good attention to detail
Proficient in the use of the Microsoft Office suite of products, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook and the Internet
Ability to be flexible and adaptable in the face of changing organisational priorities
Ability to work well within a research team and excellent interpersonal skills
Strong focus on quality of work
Flexibility to work non-standard hours of work for collaboration and contact with global teams based on requirements of the position
