In accordance with the Local Government Act 1993, Section 354G and 354H, all vacant positions will now be advertised internally. These will be commonly referred to as recruitment phases, Phase 1 and Phase 2 respectively. If a successful outcome is reached within Phase 1, applications received in Phase 2 will not be considered.

PHASE 2 - Internal Only Recruitment

  • Eligibility: All internal staff who were employed within Council prior to the proclamation date of 12 May 2016 are welcome to apply

  • If offered and accepted you will be formally appointed to the position, be offered a salary point within the advertised salary range and take the new advertised conditions of employment applying to that job until a new permanent salary structure and common employment conditions are negotiated for Inner West Council. Purpose

The WHS/RTW Partner reports directly to the WHS/Injury Management Manager and is responsible for the implementation and administration of WHS and RTW activities in accordance with relevant legislative requirements, and Inner West Council’s Work Health & Safety systems. The dual role provides education, advice and support to staff and management to understand and perform their duty of care and responsibilities in relation to WHS and injury management and is also the designated officer responsible for the coordination of the workplace rehabilitation and recover at work planning of injured employees.

Salary

$77,161 p.a to $85,393 p.a

Conditions relevant to this position will be determined by the Group Manager. If a new working hours arrangement has not been identified prior to appointment, you may bring your current working hours arrangements with you provided they meet the business needs of the new service unit; pending any new negotiated common IWC employment terms and conditions.

Requirements 

Essential Criteria  

  1. Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or demonstrated relevant experience in work health and safety and or Recover at Work.
  2. Proven ability to understand, apply and communicate complex work health and safety processes and requirements.
  3. Introduction to Return to Work Coordination approved Work Cover Course or equivalent or willingness to obtain.
  4. Current Class C (minimum) NSW Driver’s Licence. 

Desirable Criteria

  1. Experience developing and implementing WHS Management Systems.
  2. Experience in managing WHS audits and/or qualifications in Management Systems Auditing.
  3. Understanding of or experience with the Australian Business Excellence framework or experience in development and execution of improvement initiatives or continuous improvement
