The role:

You will make the most of your own passions to help our clients bring their personal goals and projects to life. As part of a team focused on delivering great experiences, you will support and assist our clients to do what they love, help create household routines, support clients in social environments, aid with personal care, perform domestic duties and provide all-round high quality care. All while ensuring the Client always feels safe, respected and supported.

You will have experience and a genuine interest in working in the Disability and Youth sectors, a commitment to motivating our clients to achieve personal goals leading to further independence and enjoy supporting people to be active inclusive participants in their community. 

We are seeking qualified Disability Support Professionals to support our NDIS customers around Tweed Heads/Banora Point location to perform complex care including, Bowel Care, PEG Feeding, Catheter Management, Wound Prevention, Medication Assistance. Staff much be available to work within a 24/7 rotating roster. Additional training can be arranged for the right candidate. 

 

 

 

 

What we are looking for:

  • Strong understanding of disabilities (essential)
  • Ability to assist clients to build capacity and independence whilst maintaining Duty of Care vs Dignity of Risk
  • Experience supporting customers with complex and/or challenging needs/behaviours (preferred)
  • A proactive person who can identify opportunities to create meaningful interactions with their clients
  • An emphatic, reliable and kind person to share experiences and achievements with their clients
  • Availability to work flexible hours, with the willingness to work within a 24/7 rotating roster including active overnight/sleepovers & weekends, Minimum of 4 days of availability (essential)
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills both verbal and written including an ability to write clear client case notes
  • Qualification and experience with Epilepsy, Peg Feeding, Catheter Care, Hoist & Manual Handling, Complex Bowel Care, Medication Administration, Severe Dysphasia Management, Wound Prevention(preferred)

 

Duties may include:

  • Personal care: showering, dressing, grooming and medication assistance
  • Complex care including  Peg Feeding, Catheter Care, Hoist & Manual Handling, Complex Bowel Care, Severe Dysphasia Management, Wound Prevention
  • Domestic assistance: light household cleaning, laundry and meal preparation
  • Social support/transportation: social activities, shopping/groceries, travelling to medical appointments
  • Supporting customers in the use of aids and personal equipment including: standing or walking frames, wheelchairs, manual or electric hoists, sliding sheets or moving boards, hearing aids and other physical aids
  • Providing support for people with physical and intellectual disabilities
  • Monitoring the well-being of customers and reporting on their progress

 

What you will need:

  • Minimum Certificate III or IV in Individual Support or Disability Services (essential)
  • Current CPR / First Aid Certificate
  • Current and satisfactory Federal Police Check,
  • NDIS Worker screening Check (Yellow Card & Blue Card)
  • Current Australian Driver’s Licence
  • Reliable, registered and insured vehicle (comprehensive insurance)
  • Smartphone with internet access 
  • COVID-19 Vaccination Certificate
