An exciting opportunity exists to make a difference to our Children & Young People's lives by joining our NSW jurisdiction to cover parental leave for the Operations Manager. 

About the role

As the Operations Manager you will effectively develop, manager and promote the fostering service within the State in line with regulatory requirements and Key Assets Australasia’s strategic plan. 

Your main responsibilities will be 

  • Be responsible for the day-to-day management of the fostering service within the State
  • Act for or deputise for the Director, as required
  • Be a member of NSW Leadership team, attend and represent Key Assets NSW at external and internal forums, meetings and attend the agency’s fostering panel 
  • Be responsible for ensuring that the Social Work activities of the team meet relevant business and legislative requirements
  • Ensure and monitor NSW business compliance and action where shortfalls are identified
  • Supervise, oversee the NSW team and provide supervision to practice leaders 
  • Monitor and review, with the Director, all aspects of the Social Work service, on a regular basis
  • Support and Supervision of Foster Carers in accordance to Key Assets standards
  • Monitor and comply with Safeguarding Children and Young People practise 
  • Comply with Key Assets policies and procedures and Department legislation and standards

Experience and Skills Required

  • Be highly energised and have a passion for delivering a high standard of service 
  • Be highly committed, resourceful and work to high standards
  • Be an accomplished communicator and possess exceptional 'attention to detail' skills 
  • Be able to work flexibly and be highly dependable
  • Have extensive experience in people management, service delivery and managing budgets 
  • Previous experience of the Out Of Home Care / Foster Care sector, is highly regarded
  • Must possess comprehensive working knowledge of all relevant legislations pertaining to children’s services as well as publications which inform current thinking regarding good practice and the Safeguarding of children and knowledge of relevant legislation arising from the various Child Protection Legislation and Government initiatives and Agendas across New South Wales
  • The successful candidate must possess an Australian Association of Social Workers recognised qualification in Social Work or equivalent and a Business/Management qualification 
  • and will be required to undergo statutory and personal checks prior to commencement

ELIGIBILTY (for AUS and or NZ Vacancies): To be eligible for consideration you must be either an Australian/ New Zealand Citizen /Resident residing within the country of the advertised position at the time of application. For overseas applicants you will hold an appropriate Australian or New Zealand work visa with no restrictions on working within the country. It is preferred that you be in the country at the time of application to be available for our interview process however for suitably experienced and qualified applicants interview alternatives may be arranged.

HOURS: Full Time 37.5 hrs/wk flexibility required due to travel (as you will work within the community), 'Casual' - Hours are needs based. Hours are also not consistent / regular.

COMMENCEMENT: Occurs when all statutory and personal checks have been satisfactorily completed. Departmental checks may take up to 28 business days to process which can cause delays in commencement.
