Karara Mining Limited is a joint venture between Gindalbie Metals Limited and AnSteel, one of the largest iron ore producers and steel makers in China. Karara operates an iron ore mine and associated infrastructure in the mid-west region of W.A.  The operation is designed for a +30 year mine life and production of 8Mtpa.  It comprises a long life and world-class magnetite deposit; dedicated rail infrastructure; and an integrated train load-out/ship loading facility at our Geraldton port operations. Karara is breaking new ground with the development and ongoing operation of the first significant iron ore mine in the mid- west.

Karara have an exciting opportunity for a degree qualified senior HR professional with mining / resource industry experience to join the Perth based HR team. Although the position is based in the CBD, travel to Karara’s operations will be required on an adhoc basis.  This is a busy position and the successful candidate will be hardworking and solution driven to support achieve the Company’s objectives. The successful candidate will use their extensive generalist, remuneration and change management experience to develop and implement HR projects, initiatives, policies / procedures and systems based on the needs of the business.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Research, develop and coordinate the implementation of HR projects and initiatives, including the development of training packages if required
  • Develop and review HR policies and procedures to reflect business objectives and legislative requirements
  • Collate and maintain up to date remuneration market data and provide guidance to Perth and site HR team on remuneration matters
  • Collate and produce data, statistics and insights for HR reporting requirements
  • Contribute to driving continuous maintenance of HR data integrity
  • Manage the outsourced payroll function
  • Coordinate the bi-annual performance appraisal process
  • Oversee visa application and renewal processes and documentation review

Experience & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor Degree in Human Resources Management or other related discipline
  • Significant experience with remuneration frameworks and practices
  • Experience in identifying, development and implementation of improvement opportunities
  • Significant exposure to a variety of projects and initiatives across the employee life-cycle
  • Experience in development and delivery of training packages to all levels of an organisation
  • Experience in working in collaborative and agile organisations
  • The ability to work and gain credibility with organisation leaders
  • Advanced experience in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly MS Excel and HR systems
