About the role

To provide quality outcomes for all residents, visitors, staff and others by providing a safe and pleasant environment, while at the same time assist in the provision of quality services to maintain the gardens and grounds of the Village.

This is a permanent Full-Time position with a roster of Monday to Friday from 7:00am to 3:00pm.

Your duties include but are not limited to:

  • Gardening of all Village gardens and grounds including weeding, mowing, fertilizing, hedging, pruning, mulching, green waste removal, some chainsaw work, re-planting, minor garden renovations and maintaining firebreaks.
  • Mulch all gardens to reduce chemical weed control, conserve water and improve soil condition
  • Control plant diseases and insects as required using integrated pest management
  • Pressure cleaning of pathways, footpaths, brickwork, fences etc
  • Attend to gardening requests by residents
  • Must have knowledge of chemicals/insecticides
  • Minor landscaping repairs/works

About You

  • Demonstrated experience in gardening duties, preferably in an aged care environment
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
  • Experience in plant operation, including chainsaw (if licensed) and hand tools
  • Experience in planning and managing job allocations in a timely manner
  • Chemical/Insecticide knowledge (ChemCert an advantage)
  • Ability to communicate with residents and other personnel
