About the role
The Communications Unit at Merri-bek City Council is transforming as we embark on a journey to become a customer-centric, high performing team, focussed on delivering exceptional value for our organisation and community. We are seeking enthusiastic, driven, and innovative people to help us turn our goals into actions.
You will work with Communications and Design professionals to drive Council’s creative vision, design process developing compelling concepts and designs across various mediums like print, digital, and social media to effectively communicate ideas, ensuring all designs align to our brand and style guidelines. The position will work closely with colleagues across the organisation to shape ideas into creative strategies and solutions, for both internal and external communication requirements.
Skills and experience require to perform the role
- Proven ability to visually communicate messages, ideas and services through high-quality, creative design.
- Strong end-to-end design skills, from concept development through to final execution across print and digital formats.
- Ability to create engaging content for digital channels, including websites, social media and eNewsletters, with a focus on enhancing user experience.
- A high level of computer literacy and ability to use a range of computer software packages including Content Management Systems, Adobe Creative Suite, and other content creation tools/systems.
- Highly developed written and verbal communication skills with the ability to produce high quality content for traditional and digital media.
- The ability to research, develop, implement and evaluate external and internal communications content and strategies.
- Collaborate with and support team members on best-practice design approaches and creative concepts.
- Play a key role in refining and evolving Merri-bek’s brand to ensure it stays fresh, consistent and community-focused.
- Provide expert design and branding advice within the Communications Unit to support high-quality, community-facing content and improved workflows.
