About the role
The Communications Unit at Merri-bek City Council is transforming as we embark on a journey to become a customer-centric, high performing team, focussed on delivering exceptional value for our organisation and community. We are seeking enthusiastic, driven, and innovative people to help us turn our goals into actions.
This role plays a key part in shaping how Merri-bek connects with the community online. You'll create and manage engaging content across social media, the website, and eNewsletters, helping promote Council services, initiatives and events. Working closely with teams across the organisation, you'll develop digital campaigns, provide strategic advice, and ensure all content is clear, accessible and aligned with Council's brand and goals. You'll also use data and insights to guide improvements and enhance the overall digital experience.
Skills and experience require to perform the role
- Demonstrated experience in creating engaging, tailored content across major social media platforms (Meta, Instagram, X) to build brand reputation and community engagement.
- Strong understanding of platform algorithms, best practices, and paid advertising to optimise reach and performance.
- Ability to analyse social media and web metrics to evaluate campaign success and inform content strategy.
- Experience planning, implementing and evaluating digital campaigns across multiple channels, including social media, websites and eNewsletters.
- Strong knowledge of digital marketing strategies and tools, including SEO, audience segmentation, and email marketing platforms.
- Skilled in providing strategic content advice to internal stakeholders and aligning digital communication with broader organisational goals.
- Understanding of accessibility standards and experience ensuring content meets brand, style and compliance guidelines.
- Experience managing corporate digital channels, online publications and image/document repositories.
- Ability to work collaboratively across departments to deliver clear, consistent and impactful digital communication.
