About the role
Merri‑bek City Council is seeking an experienced and values‑driven Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Coordinator to join our MCH leadership team in a permanent full‑time role. Working collaboratively with two other MCH Coordinators, and reporting to the Unit Manager – Maternal and Child Health & Immunisation, this role provides professional leadership to our MCH workforce within a supportive leadership team.
At Merri‑bek, we value and actively support our Maternal and Child Health staff, recognising they are central to positive outcomes for children and families. In this role, you will ensure we deliver high‑quality, family‑centred and culturally safe MCH services for families with children aged 0–5 years across the Merri‑bek municipality. You will support and develop staff through supervision and mentoring, promote evidence‑based practice and continuous improvement, contribute to service planning and lead quality initiatives. Working in close partnership with fellow Coordinators to manage projects, quality improvement, support integrated service delivery and ensure services are responsive to the needs of diverse communities.

Skills and experience require to perform the role
- APHRA Registered Div 1 Nurse and Registered Midwife and Maternal and Child Health Nurse qualified to practice in Victoria
- Demonstrated experience, or a strong interest in developing capability, in providing supervision, professional support, debriefing and mentoring to staff, with a commitment to reflective practice.
- Experience contributing to the delivery of high‑quality services in a health, community or child and family service setting, with an interest in continuous improvement.
- Understanding of the health and community support services system, particularly services for children and families.
- Skills and experience in delivering responsive, inclusive and culturally safe services that meet the needs of diverse communities.
- Experience or exposure to project work, service improvement initiatives or change processes, with an interest in strengthening project and leadership capability.
- A current Victorian Driver’s Licence and a current Working with Children Check.
