About the role
The Local Laws and Animal Management team is within the Compliance Operations Unit and is part of the Amenity and Compliance branch. Other teams within the branch include Parking and Road Safety, Business Support, School Crossings, Development and Asset Assurance and Prosecutions.
Reporting to the Manager Amenity and Compliance, the Local Laws and Animal Management Support Officer provides administrative and project delivery support, assists with coordinating continuous improvement work, directly supports field officers, and delivers services to customers and community.
Assist the team with coordination and delivery of various projects and program including; the cat desexing program, inspections of vacant land and fire hazards properties, identifying and managing Domestic Animal Businesses, and the delivery of Domestic Animal Management Plan.
Identify and deliver improvements and contribute to the development of new processes and assist in the development and coordination of education campaigns to communicate to the public about animals, local laws and parking including engagement activities and education materials.
The Local Laws and Animal Management Support Officer is an integral part of our team, providing education and projects for our community, supporting our staff and leaders, and providing important administrative support to keep our teams operating effectively.
Skills and experience require to perform the role
- Excellent verbal communication including the ability to de-escalate challenging interactions
- Excellent written communication skills with the ability to write reports and/or prepare external correspondence.
- Excellent knowledge and experience in the operations of software including Microsoft Office and other administrative packages.
- Skilled in maintaining accounts, purchasing and administrative processes and procedures.
- An ability to set and maintain a high standard of output through attention to detail.
- An ability to understand and interpret legislation, policies and guidelines
