About the role
This is a rare opportunity to join the Merri-bek City Council’s dynamic, innovative and passionate Maternal and Child Health & Immunisation Team. Merri-bek City Council is an outwardly focussed, modern and progressive council.

We seek a Maternal and Child Health Nurses to join our team on a 12 month Maternity Leave Contact.
- Be responsible for providing a high quality, family-centred health care service that promotes and protects the health of families with children 0 - 5 years in the municipality.
- Showcase your ability to work in a team to solve problems and achieve outcomes in a constructive and co-operative manner.

To be successful in this role you will have to hold AHPRA registration in General Nursing and Midwifery and hold a Tertiary qualification in Maternal & Child Health.
You will need to provide evidence of your right to work in Australia, copies of your qualifications, and a current Driver Licence & Working with Children Check. You must also be willing to provide a Pre-Employment Health Declaration and undertake a National Police Record Check.
Applicants for this position who are successful at the interview stage will be required to have a pre-employment medical assessment prior to completion of the recruitment process regarding the applicant’s suitability for employment. A satisfactory result does not guarantee success in the position applied for.
Skills and experience require to perform the role
- You will demonstrate your extensive knowledge of current issues in child health, development and behaviour.
- You will provide guidance and advice, support and education on a wide variety of health, parenting and family issues
- You will assess the physical, social and emotional health of children and their families and monitor and promote the healthy growth, development and behaviour of children 0 – 5 years
- You will demonstrate your awareness of state policy directions.
