Today, the RFDS (Queensland Section) has nine bases across the state plus the Corporate Office, services an area of 1,727,200 sq. km, and provided care to more than 91,000 patients in the last year.With over 400 professional and dedicated staff spread across aviation, medical, nursing and support service disciplines, RFDS Queensland Section is a diverse and complex health service provider.

The RFDS is looking for an Informatics Officer to work as part of an dynamic team providing reporting and analysis of operational information for RFDS for the purposes of planning and contractual reporting with a specific focus in health information systems.  This role will also provide application support for RFDS approved clinical applications and education to RFDS staff on these applications and health information management requirements. 

We are looking for someone who has a positive attitude,  can do approach and can show flexibility and adaptability in a changing work environment. 

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Tertiary qualification in Health Information Management or other relevant field
  • Experience in health information management including records management, forms management, auditing
  • Experience in reporting and statistical analysis in a medium size business environment
  • Knowledge of medico-legal and privacy legislation
  • Demonstrated experience with the use of the Microsoft Office with an advanced capability in Excel
  • Ability to work and communicate effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural team
  • Ability to undertake work with of a complex nature with minimal direction
  • Ability to problem solve, develop and implement remedial strategies and exercise initiative and responsibility
  • Ability to use innovative approaches to analyse information and identify opportunities for improvement
  • Knowledge of Australian Standards for health records
  • Knowledge of and commitment to customer service principles


This role will be required to undergo a pre-employment drug and alcohol test and will be subject to criminal history check.
