About the Role 

The new Spiritus Community and Aged Care leadership structure includes an interesting and challenging opportunity for an experienced Registered Nurse with a strong background and interest in Adult Education to join the Practice Development and Quality team, as Learning and Development Lead. 

Reporting directly to the Group Manager, Practice Development and Quality, this role will develop and implement a contemporary learning and development framework and curricula for all care service activities across Community and Aged Care, based on current and emerging health care trends and evidence-based research.  A key outcome of this role will to ensure that all Community and Aged Care staff with client and resident contact are fully competent to carry out care activities. 

Other key responsibilities include:

  • Develop and implement a Learning and Development Plan and Calendar for Community and Aged Care that reflects high quality and contemporary learning and development programs, and includes a methodology for capturing all care-related training activities across the stream;
  • Lead a group of Practice and Development Consultants to deliver learning and development functions, including skills gap analysis, development of training units, delivery of training and assessment of competencies.

Key Selection Criteria

  • Current registration with the Queensland Nursing Council, and an ability to demonstrate and apply contemporary nursing practice in a clinical setting.
  • Demonstrated advanced clinical nursing skills.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Adult Education, or a willingness to undertake these.
  • Extensive experience in Adult Education, or Training and Development in Health, Aged Care and/or Community Services.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop, implement, and deliver quality education frameworks and curricula.
  • Advanced organisational and planning skills in relation to education programs.
  • Demonstrated mature interpersonal/communication skills (written and oral) including stron analytical skills and report writing skills and the ability to motivate and influence staff and peers in the achievement of organisational goals.
  • High level IT skills in relevant Microsoft Office packages.
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience in delivering training.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Possession of a current unrestricted Queensland drivers licence.
