About the Position

Our Children and Families Residential Program is a group of separate houses in the Logan and Brisbane community providing Out of Home Care to children and young people aged between 7 - 17 years old, who are unable to reside with their own family and are subject to a statutory order. These residential homes are staffed 24 hours per day, 7 days per week by both male and female care workers. 

Our compassionate and proactive team at Children and Families Logan are currently looking for a positive, caring and professional casual Residential Care Worker to provide children and young people with therapeutic care and the opportunity to live in a safe, nurturing environment.

 

About You

With a background in child protection or youth work, your experience and skills will include:

  • Facilitating emotional development and teaching life skills
  • Promotion of pro-social behavior by employing effective responses and techniques
  • Domestic duties including washing, cooking and shopping
  • Engage children and youth in these activities as appropriate

Your caring yet professional nature will be aided by:

  • Assurance of respect of children and young people
  • Ability to cope effectively with challenging and extreme behaviours
  • Understanding of the needs of children in care
  • Dedication to creating a nurturing and stimulating environment
  • Exceptional communication and problem solving ability

You are required to hold:

  • A current Blue Card (Working with Children)
  • A current National Police Certificate
  • Diploma in Youth Work or equivalent qualification
  • An open Queensland’s Drivers Licence
