About the Position

Our Intensive Family Support Service assists families who are concerned about some areas of their family life, particularly the safety and wellbeing of their children. The service helps families to identify their own strengths, set goals for themselves, provides practical home support and strive to support families to build a pathway to the life they want. 

We also offer Foster & Kinship Care Programs, providing children and young people, who are not able to live with their own family, the opportunity to live in a safe nurturing family environment.

We are now looking for a degree-qualified Coordinator to provide support for both these programs. This is a newly created, full time position based at our Gympie office, covering the north of the Sunshine Coast region.

This role’s overall purpose within Anglicare Southern Queensland (Anglicare SQ) is to coordinate a Foster and Kinship care service; as well as an Intensive Family support Service including providing quality guidance, direction and supervision to:

  • Intensive Family Support Service Case Workers to ensure the service is operated in accordance with service agreement requirements and fits with best practice in working with vulnerable and/or families at risk of entering the child protection system;
  • Foster and Kinship Care Case Workers to ensure the recruitment, training, assessment and ongoing support of Foster and Kinship Carers is maintained as per legislative and service agreement requisites.

The Coordinator will also need to consider best practice in the foster care area including achieving outcomes as per the Queensland Out of Home Framework. This role is also responsible for ensuring that the Foster and Kinship Care program meets the standards set out by the Department of Communities (Child Safety Services) to ensure ongoing licencing of the program.

 

About You

A motivated and dedicated professional within the Foster Care or Family Intervention Services sector, your knowledge and background will include:

  • Previous management and leadership experience with ability to motivate and support others
  • Ability to provide guidance, direction and supervision to a team of Case Workers and Foster Carers
  • Demonstrated skills in coordination, interaction and building effective, practical, respectful relationships with children, families and carers
  • Proven ability to problem solve and make fast, effective and professional decisions
  • Applied knowledge and understanding of the Child Protection System, and a genuine interest in this area
  • Confident and capable using a practice framework that is child and family centred and culturally sensitive; knowledge of the Queensland Out of Home framework would be beneficial
  • Skilled in the use of computers and at an intermediate level with Microsoft Suite

Qualifications and documentation required:

  • Tertiary level qualifications in a relevant field, including Social Work, Psychology, Social or Behavioural Sciences
  • A open, clean Queensland Drivers Licence
  • A current Blue Card (Working with Children)
  • Eligibility to gain a successful suitability check through the Department of Communities Child Safety Services (LCS-2)
