A bit about the job

The objectives of this position are to:

  • Manage the SANFL Male Under 18 State Elite Programs, identifying, preparing and developing the talent
  • Coach the State Under 18 Male Team at the AFL National Under 18 Championships
  • Appoint and manage State Under 18 Program Assistant Coaches
  • Lead and support SANFL Club Coaches and Talent Managers
  • Manage SANFL Club compliance with SANFL funding agreements


A bit about you

You will be a dymanic and experienced coach with the passion and strong skills to deliver development and success in SANFL Programs.  Your ability to lead our State 18's Male program will be supported by the following:


  • Level 2 Coach accreditation (prepared to undertake Level 3 as soon as possible)
  • Drivers Licence
  • Relevant Tertiary qualifications (desirable)

Essential Criteria

  • Thorough understanding of the requirements to be an elite ‘modern day’ football player
  • Coaching experience at a sub-elite to elite level
  • Appreciation of the importance of Skill Development
  • Ability to teach and educate young players
  • An understanding of long term athlete development
  • Strong communication and effective presentation skills
  • Thorough knowledge of ‘elite’ player development techniques and technology options
  • Evidence based commitment to professional development
  • Effectively manage expenditure
  • Current DCSI clearance or ability to successfully obtain

Desirable Criteria

  • Understanding of the SANFL football environment
  • Strong network and working relationship with people within the SANFL and AFL football system
