ACCOUNTABILITY OBJECTIVE

 

Under the direction of the dining services manager follows established policies, procedures and standards, assumes responsibility for ware-washings, pot washing and sanitation of the department.

 

Position is every Thursday & Friday  - 12:00pm - 8:00pm

 

 

BACKGROUND/QUALIFICATIONS

 

Minimum grade 12. Ability to follow English written and oral instructions.  Ability to work independently and/or as a member of a team.  Food handlers certification required. Able to stand extensively and lift up to 70 lbs.  Ability to work under stress in busy kitchen, under hot, humid conditions.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

 

 

  •  Participates in, and contributes to, the Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) program.
  •  
  • Cleans dishes, pots, glassware, and cutlery following established sanitation procedures.
  •  
  • Monitors and records the temperature of the dish machine at least twice daily. Reports all deficiencies to the dining services manager.
  •  
  • Ensures correct usage of chemicals in dish machine and pot washing areas, i.e. uses 3-sink method for pot washing.
  •  
  • Receives, uncrates, and puts away supplier deliveries as required.
  •  
  • Vacuums dining room after lunch and dinner.
  • Buses dishes in dining room between seatings.
  •  
  • Breaks down cardboard boxes and prepared boxes for re-cycling or disposal.
  •  
  • Cleans dish machine and pot washing area thoroughly. Assumes cleaning tasks as per site cleaning schedules.
  •  
  • Ensure cups and teapots and soup bowls are presoaked once a week in proper chemicals to remove stains.
  •  
  • Cleans kitchen, including mopping entire floor.
  •  
  • Adheres to established department policies, procedures and objectives regarding quality assurance, safety, environmental and infection control.
  •  
  • Complies with all corporate policies and procedures.
  •  
  • Completes all required mandatory training/education.
  •  
  • Complies with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Workplace Safety and Insurance Act, and Workplace Hazardous Material Information System. This includes recognizing health and safety hazards, reporting incidents, fulfilling responsibilities under the applicable legislation, as well as participating in in-services and fire drills.
  •  
  • Performs all other duties as assigned by dining services manager.
