About the Opportunity

With the completed rollout of the NDIS across NSW, St Carthage's Community Care has an exciting full-time opportunity for a Support Planner (NDIS) to join their team in Lismore.

Reporting to the Community Services Manager, you will be responsible for assisting clients in the understanding, establishment, sourcing, connection and delivery of all facets of their NDIS plans in order to promote their independence.

You will also contribute to the organisation's strategic plan through the delivery of quality and innovative client services and liaise with a variety of internal and external service providers/agencies in relation to supporting people in the community.

More specifically, some of your key duties will include (but not be limited to):

  • Collaborating with clients and their care partners/stakeholders to identify individual goals and outcomes;
  • Developing, implementing and evaluating flexible, innovative and creative person-centred programs for people with disabilities including children and young people;
  • Recruiting, orientating, inducting and supervising Community Care Workers and volunteers;
  • Committing to, understanding and promoting the Eden Alternative and Philosophy;
  • Advocating on behalf of individual clients and groups; and
  • Promoting and advertising St Carthage's Community Care.

Dependent on operational requirements and potential business growth, you will be required to travel to attend face-to-face meetings with clients within the Northern Rivers region.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will need to hold a tertiary qualification in Community Services (with a strong preference for Disability qualifications), along with a minimum of 3 years demonstrated experience in this sector. Due to the nature of the role, you'll also need to have an understanding of the relevant Equal Employment Opportunity and Work Health and Safety requirements.

You will be in charge of supervising and supporting 5-10 direct reports, consisting of Community Care Workers, volunteers and students on placement. Due to this, effective people management and exceptional interpersonal and intercultural communication skills are essential, as is the ability to coach and mentor others.

The ideal candidate will be adaptable, flexible, self-motivated, and have a lateral approach to address emerging and complex issues in an ever-changing work environment.

Computer literacy in Windows, particularly word processing, spreadsheets, desktop publishing and databases is also required. 

Most importantly, St Carthage's is looking for someone with a strong understanding of the principles of social justice and equity, that is able to advocate for clients, walk alongside them and enable them to reassert their independence!

Please Note: This role is subject to a Criminal Record Check and a Working with Children check prior to employment. A current Driver's License and a reliable motor vehicle that is comprehensively insured, and First Aid Certificate, are all requirements of the position.
