About the Organisation

Mala'la Health Service Aboriginal Corporation (MHSAC) is an incorporated community controlled Aboriginal organisation that provides primary health care services and programs to the Maningrida region. MHSAC provides funding to the Maningrida health clinic and the Mala’la Flexible Aged Care Centre, alongside providing the “GREAT” Youth Services program and the Social and Emotional Wellbeing program to the community.

MHSAC’s vision is to improve the health and well-being of their people in the Maningrida community and surrounding outstations.

About the Opportunity

MHSAC has a unique opportunity for an experienced Manager of the Youth Services Program to join their dedicated team in Maningrida, NT, on a full-time basis.

Reporting to the CEO, this autonomous role will see you supervising and managing all staff employed within the Youth Services Program, with the goal of enhancing the well-being of young people within the community.

Some of your key responsibilities will include:

  • Overseeing program coordination and service delivery;
  • Sourcing funding opportunities;
  • Facilitating and promoting community engagement;
  • Monitoring budget allocation/expenditure, and reporting against key performance and funding indicators;
  • Providing opportunities for staff professional development; and
  • Overseeing continuous quality improvement and risk assessment.

About You

MHSAC is seeking a dedicated and pro-active individual who will act as an advocate for young people within the community, especially at times of crisis. The principles of community engagement and community development will be core to your approach in managing the Program.

The successful candidate will hold appropriate tertiary qualifications in Youth Work, Community Services, Community Development or similar, as well as experience in the management of programs within the Youth Services area. Experience within an Aboriginal community context will be highly regarded, as this will enable you to build on current program deliverables and outcomes.

This autonomous role will see you managing and developing the Program in an independent capacity at most times. As such, it's essential you be able to work effectively and efficiently without ongoing supervision.

In addition, your excellent communication and interpersonal skills will ensure your ability to confidently liaise with all key stakeholders. Competency in the use of computer programs is also required.

It is a requirement of this role that candidates possess an OCHRE Card (Working With Children Clearance Check), a current driver's licence and are willing to undergo a police check prior to employment with MHSAC.

About the Region

Maningrida is a coastal Aboriginal community in the heart of the Arnhem Land region, located about 520km east of Darwin. The town is a major services centre for the region with a school, health clinic, multiple food outlets and two supermarkets, service station, arts centre, crèche, and a tarmac airport, with commercial flights operating daily to Darwin.
