The position is based in Hillston, which is only around 100km from the major regional centre of Griffith.

About the Opportunity

Carrathool has an exciting opportunity for a friendly and business-minded Administration Officer to join their team in Goolgowi, NSW, on a full-time basis.

Reporting to the Corporate Services Coordinator, you will primarily be responsible for providing support to the corporate services team in assisting with customer service, record-keeping and administrative tasks.

This role will see you working in a team with Customer Service and Administration Staff, including liaison with the Hillston office.  

More specifically, your duties will include (but will not be limited to):

  • Answering customer enquiries and requests both face to face and via telecommunications to present the "public face" of Council in a professional, efficient and friendly manner;
  • Undertaking the full duties of Customer Service Officer in order to provide relief during their absence from the office and assist in peak workload periods;
  • Opening, registering, copying and disseminating inwards correspondence and delivering outgoing mail;
  • Assisting in developing and maintaining Council's disposal schedule and archiving procedures in accordance with State Records requirements and organisation information needs; and
  • Providing general administrative support such as maintaining office equipment, ordering supplies, arranging catering for meetings

About You

To be considered for this position you must have excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated experience with the Microsoft Office Suite.

As a key liaison within Council, your well-developed intercultural communication and negotiation skills will be crucial to your success in dealing with diverse stakeholders at all levels, as will your ability to work independently and as part of a team. You must be capable in managing multiple competing demands while maintaining confidentiality and discretion for both customers and Council alike.

The ideal candidate is a versatile, autonomous and personable professional with the ability to develop and improve internal systems and train staff in their uses. While not mandatory to be considered for this role, candidates with tertiary qualifications in Business Administration or similar will be highly regarded.

Please note: To be considered for this position you must hold an unrestricted C Class Australian Driver's Licence and pass a Pre-Employment Screening process.
